Last year, in partnership with The Center for Public Integrity, we explored the EPA’s decades-long review process for potentially dangerous chemicals, and Erin Brockovich’s ongoing efforts to clean up hexavalent chromium in drinking water across the country.
Prior my conversation with McCarthy, I asked you what you would ask her if given the chance. Below are her responses to some of those suggested questions.
Facebook user Jeff Kohut asked: “Do we need more laws or more enforcement of existing laws with proper penalties for breaking those rules?”
Facebook user Bob Borrelli asked: “Why aren’t companies required to disclose what is in fracking solvents?”
Twitter user GeneQueenB asked: “What tests have been done to study affect of fracking chemicals on neuro development and reproduction?”
Facebook user Vel Champion asked: “Does the EPA plan to do anything regarding the increased complaints of sink holes and quakes that seem to plague areas where “fracking” has previously occurred?”
Facebook user Kim Sharpe Jones wanted to ask about a new weedkiller under consideration that may harm children.
Facebook user Svi Sigurdsson asked: “When are you going to ban chemicals that are killing bees?”
