A lizard may be key to finding survivors buried in rubble. The chiseled body and shovel-shaped head of the Sahara desert sandfish help the lizard slice and swim through sand. Using x-rays to track it underground, engineers are studying the lizard's movements and building robots based on its physiology that could help search and rescue crews find survivors.
